The Achness Hotel

Rosehall, Sutherland, Scotland

The Achness hotel is a historic highland fishing lodge, travellers' inn, and local community hub in the heart of Sutherland.

For over fifty years, the hotel has been providing respite, relaxation, reconnection with nature and convivial company in the gorgeous Cassley River valley.

Set amid forests and fields in the rambling village of Rosehall, the Achness lies just off the road between Lairg, known as the crossroads of the Highlands, and the West Coast destinations of Ullapool, Lochinver, and the stunning Assynt hills and beaches.

From April to July every year, the hotel is home to many guests on their annual visit to fly-fish the River Cassley. The area is perfect for other outdoor pursuits, including bicycling , hillwalking and deer stalking. The wooded Rosehall trail network extends to just behind the hotel, and the gorgeous River Cassley falls are a few steps away. In winter, guests enjoy the hotel's warm, inviting common spaces, with wood fires and expansive views.

In every season we offer delicious homemade food, the best artisan ales, whiskies and gins, and a kindhearted highland welcome.
